New and emerging writers account for more than a third of the hundreds of writers whom Narrative publishes each year, and the new writers appear prominently alongside today’s most- recognized authors.
Read prior winners, including Millicent Dillon’s first-place winner “The Healer in the Motel,” and Kirstin Valdez Quade’s “Nemecia,” which Elizabeth Strout selected to appear in The Best American Short Stories, 2013. And view other recent awards won by our writers.
The Winter Contest is open to all writers, and all entries will be considered for publication.
