A sense of place’ Creative Writing Workshops in Woodstock Gardens
Creative Writing Workshops
Venue: Conservatory, Woodstock Gardens, Inistioge
Dates Wed 15th and 29th May
Time 10-00 - 12.30 both days
Outline: Two workshops with the same group, held two weeks apart on the theme of Place/Home Place.
Wednesday 15th May - Workshop 1: will be used to introduce the theme of writing on Place/Home Place, to explore what participants understand by effective work on this theme, provide examples of 'best practice', and participants will use the gardens as a 'laboratory' to explore writing on the theme.
Wednesday 29th May - Workshop 2: will provide an opportunity for more in-depth exploration of the skills involved. Each participant will be invited to present a prose piece or poem on a place that has particular significance for them. These pieces will be workshopped in the group.
Number in group, not more than ten, places given on a first-come-first-served basis.
Fee €10 per workshop
Carmel Cummins is from Co Kilkenny and lives in Inistioge. Her poetry has been most recently published in Woodstock Promenade ,2009, Kilkenny Broadsheet, 2009, 2010 and 2012, I live in Michael Hartnett, 2013. Prose pieces on her home place have been published in Townlands: a habitation, 2012.
