A UNIQUE new cafe is to open in the Milk Market showcasing live, unplugged music and spoken word.

From Thursday, June 13, and every fortnight thereafter, the Limerick Writers Centre will run the Acoustic Cafe in the Sallymills Bakery, Cafe and Tearooms. The event gets under way at 8.30pm.
According to Dominic Taylor, of the writers centre, the aim is to recreate the atmosphere of a night spot in Greenwich Village, New York. They will introduce small cafe tables, and dim lighting to meet this
A wide variety of musical styles will be on offer, from folk, to alternative, to spoken word.
The first special guest is local singer/songwriter Sean MacLeod. Sean began his songwriting career with Dublin band Cisco in the 1990s, and he later pursued a solo career.
In 2004, he finished a masters degree in music and media Technology in Trinity College after which he set up his own production company and sound engineering school ‘Sonic Eye Media’. Sonic Eye Media produced and promoted a large section of Dublin’s local bands and singer song writers, including Doug Sheridan, Wallmark and Kevin Barry as well as providing the music and soundscapes for a number of independent films and documentaries.
If you wish to play contact Dominic Taylor at limerickwriterscentre@gmail.com to book a spot or turn up on the night.
All are welcome those who wish to perform or just listen.
